About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is a centralized job board for data-labeling and AI-training work. We aggregate projects from many platforms so people can discover and apply to this kind of work in one place instead of hunting across dozens of sites.

Creating an OpenTrain account is free and applying for projects typically takes only a few minutes.

About AI training work

AI training (also called data labeling, annotation, or human-feedback work) is the human effort that helps machine learning models learn and behave. Contributors provide or evaluate examples—writing, rating, transcribing, or labeling—that make models more accurate, safe, and useful.

This task focuses on text responses about people's experiences working as AI trainers and annotators.

The role

We’re collecting brief, candid responses from people who have worked in AI training or are actively working in the field. You will answer 10 short questions about your experience, attitudes, and working conditions.

  • Task type: Text responses (data type: TEXT) — label type: TEXT_GENERATION.
  • Labeling software: OTHER.
  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time.
  • Time requirement: Less than 20 hours/week; task is short and can be completed on your own schedule.
  • Experience level: Entry level (but you must have had a job in this field or be actively working).
  • Geography: Worldwide (open to contributors anywhere).
  • Pay: Fixed price $0 (unpaid).

What you'll do

Provide clear, honest text answers to each of the 10 prompts below. Short paragraphs or one-line answers are fine; be candid and specific where helpful.

  • 1) What jobs do you think AI will take over?
  • 2) Are you worried about AI taking your job?
  • 3) Are you satisfied with your pay?
  • 4) How secure is your job? (Job security)
  • 5) Do you work at home or at a facility? Which would you prefer?
  • 6) What are some of the worst things about training AI that no one talks about?
  • 7) What are some of the best things about training AI that no one talks about?
  • 8) How would you describe your job in one word?
  • 9) If you could start over, would you pick the same career path?
  • 10) Any other brief comments about working in AI training?

Requirements

You must have worked in this field before or be actively working in AI training or related data-labeling roles. This is the only substantive eligibility requirement for this project.

  • Must have had a job in AI training/annotation or be actively working in the field (required).
  • Experience level listed as Entry level.
  • No specific language or technical tools are required beyond the ability to provide text responses.
  • Because pay for this task is fixed at $0, consider whether you’re willing to participate for non-monetary reasons (community contribution, research, speaking up).

Who should apply

This project is a good fit for annotators, labelers, AI trainers, moderation staff, transcribers, and others who have direct experience with human-in-the-loop model training and want to share their perspective.

You do not need special technical skills beyond being comfortable writing about your work experience.

  • Frontline labelers and annotators who want to share uncensored thoughts about the job.
  • People currently working in AI training who can compare past and present conditions.
  • Entry-level contributors with direct experience in annotation or feedback tasks.
