About OpenTrain

OpenTrain aggregates data-labeling and AI-training jobs from many companies and platforms into one searchable place so you can discover opportunities without hunting across dozens of sites. Creating an OpenTrain account is free and applying to listings takes only a few minutes.

This posting is hosted on OpenTrain to connect skilled contributors with AI teams that need human-written examples and editorial guidance for conversational models.

About AI Training Work

AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human side of building intelligent systems. People craft, review and refine examples—dialogue, answers, summaries, and edits—that teach models how to speak naturally, stay accurate, and behave safely.

These projects are often fully remote, flexible in schedule, accessible to contributors without specialized credentials, and give you direct influence on how next‑generation chatbots communicate in your language and culture.

The Role

We are seeking a Creative Writer fluent in Mandarin Chinese to produce and polish dialogue and other written responses used to train AI chatbots. This is a remote contractor role (part-time) paying USD 15 per hour.

Schedule is flexible; the listing states a time requirement of "Less than 20 hours/week." The project description also requests a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week and expresses a preferred commitment of 20+ hours per week. This role is open worldwide.

  • Job type: Contractor, part-time, remote
  • Pay: $15 USD per hour
  • Minimum hours: 10 hrs/week; preferred: 20+ hrs/week (posting timeRequirement: Less than 20 hours/week)
  • Data type: Text — label types include prompt/response writing, question answering, text generation, and summarization

What You'll Do

You will write authentic, culturally relevant responses to prompts and edit model outputs so chatbots sound natural, accurate, and engaging in Mandarin. Many tasks emphasize creative language use, character and scenario description, and concise professional or persuasive messaging.

Work is task-based and review-driven: you will receive prompts and guidelines, produce or improve text, and submit examples for quality checks.

  • Generate high-quality Mandarin responses to prompts and questions.
  • Edit and improve AI-generated text for grammar, tone, and cultural relevance.
  • Produce varied writing styles (creative, professional email, persuasive messaging, concise summaries).
  • Account for regional dialects and cultural context where required.
  • Follow task instructions and quality guidelines closely; incorporate reviewer feedback.

Requirements

Candidates must have strong written Mandarin Chinese and the ability to edit and proofread meticulously. A basic understanding of English is required to follow instructions and coordinate with the team.

Prior experience writing on data-labeling/AI training platforms (Remotasks, Outlier, Appen, DataAnnotation.tech, etc.) is highly preferred—specifically experience performing writing tasks (not just rating).

  • Mandarin Chinese: native or near-native written proficiency.
  • English: basic comprehension to follow task instructions and interview communication.
  • Preferred: 5+ years of creative or content writing in Mandarin (preferred but not strictly required).
  • Preferred: portfolio of published Mandarin writing (links or descriptions).
  • Editing skills: proven ability to proofread and refine text.
  • Familiarity with AI chatbot tools (e.g., ChatGPT) is an advantage but not required.
  • Experience level: Intermediate.
  • Employment: Contract / Part-time; worldwide applicants welcome.

Interview Process And Mandatory Test

During the interview, the screening chatbot (ChatGPT) will ask specific questions about your platform experience and background, and it will request factual details such as how many years or months you've worked on writing tasks for data-labeling platforms.

At the end of the interview there is a short written test: questions will be provided in English and Mandarin, but you must respond in Mandarin. Performance on this test significantly affects your qualification score.

  • ChatGPT will ask whether you have written responses on platforms like Remotasks, Outlier, Appen, etc. (experience rating responses is less relevant).
  • ChatGPT will ask how many years/months you have experience writing on these platforms.
  • ChatGPT will ask for a link to your Mandarin writing portfolio or descriptions of published works if no link is available.
  • ChatGPT will ask for your highest level of education.

Interview Test Questions (Respond In Mandarin)

Below are the three test prompts you will be asked to answer in Mandarin during the interview. They are provided here so you can prepare. Each response should be concise, accurate and reflect strong written Mandarin skills.

  • QUESTION 1: Describe a Character — Mandarin Chinese: 请使用创造性语言简要描述一个独特而生动的角色。您的描述应至少包含两个显著特征或特性。
  • QUESTION 2: Draft a Professional Email — Mandarin Chinese: 请撰写一封简短的电子邮件给您的上司,请求对您准备的“季度财务报告”提供反馈。请专注于数据分析和展示风格的请求。
  • QUESTION 3: Write a Persuasive Email — Mandarin Chinese: 请撰写一封简洁的电子邮件,说服一个内向的朋友作为当地活动的嘉宾演讲者自愿参与。强调参与的两个好处,并解决他们可能有的一个潜在顾虑。
