About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. The platform connects skilled contributors with projects that teach and refine AI systems—helping you build a profile, discover paid work, and grow a career in this fast-moving field.

Why AI training and localization work matters

AI systems learn from human examples and feedback. Localization and language-evaluation contributors make sure models produce accurate, natural, and culturally appropriate content in different languages.

This kind of work is often remote and flexible, accessible to people with language expertise, and lets you directly influence how state-of-the-art AI behaves for real users.

The role

You will serve as a Senior Chinese (Simplified) Localization AI Content Evaluator, reviewing AI-generated Chinese and English text and creating language content used to train and evaluate models.

This is a fully remote, hourly contractor position supporting a leading AI data services company. Work focuses on rating and improving model outputs, assessing step-by-step reasoning, and ensuring culturally and linguistically accurate localization.

  • Data type: Text (AI-generated Chinese and English responses).
  • Labeling tasks: Evaluation/rating and text generation improvement.
  • Labeling software: OTHER (project-specific tools).
  • Employment: Contractor, Part-time.

What you'll do

Perform careful, guideline-driven evaluations of AI outputs and provide clear, actionable feedback to improve model performance and localization quality.

  • Assess AI output for accuracy, clarity, completeness, and adherence to prompts and style guidelines.
  • Evaluate the quality of reasoning and step-by-step solutions; judge whether explanations are correct and logically sound.
  • Provide detailed written feedback and edit or rewrite text to meet localization standards.
  • Fact-check content using reliable sources and flag factual errors or hallucinations.
  • Compare and rate multiple model outputs to identify the best responses and suggest improvements.

Requirements

You must meet the listed educational, language, and experience standards and be comfortable working independently as an hourly contractor.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Translation, Linguistics, Localization, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years professional localization or translation experience.
  • Native or near-native fluency in Chinese (Simplified).
  • Minimum C1 English proficiency (reading and writing) required.
  • Proven understanding of MQM/LQA concepts and localization quality frameworks.
  • Proficiency with CAT tools and QA workflows (project-specific tools may vary).
  • Strong editorial judgment, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to fact-check using reliable sources.
  • Availability for 20+ hours per week.

Who should apply

Apply if you are an experienced localization professional who enjoys improving AI language outputs and can communicate clearly in both Chinese (Simplified) and English.

Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, comfortable applying quality standards (MQM/LQA), and experienced with translation tooling and editorial workflows.
