About AI training (what this work is)
AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human side of building modern models: people create, review, and rate the examples that teach AI systems how to read, write, and interpret content. This role focuses on creating high-quality prompt-and-response examples so generative models learn to understand visual web content.
- Typical tasks include writing prompts, composing model responses, and following detailed guidelines to improve model behavior.
- Work is fully remote, often flexible, and accessible to skilled writers without specialized technical degrees.
The role
We are seeking experienced creative writers based in the U.S. or Canada to produce original prompt-and-response pairs for AI training. You will examine website screenshots and write engaging, contextually accurate questions and high-quality responses from scratch to help models interpret visual web pages.
- Employment type: Contractor, Part-time.
- Schedule: Immediate start; the project expects 20+ hours/week (you must be able to commit at least 15 hours/week; more hours preferred).
- Pay: USD $21 per hour (pay-per-hour).
- Data type: Text; Label type: PROMPT_RESPONSE_WRITING_SFT; Labeling software: Other.
What you'll do
Your core responsibility is to read provided website screenshots and create original, well-structured prompt and response pairs that are accurate, detailed, and aligned with project guidelines.
- Generate creative, challenging, and contextually relevant questions based on visual web content (e.g., homepage sections, banners, navigation).
- Write original, high-quality responses that clearly and specifically answer each prompt; no selection from prewritten answers.
- Follow style and content guidelines closely and adapt tone/structure as required by the project.
- Maintain consistency and quality across repeated tasks and meet assigned productivity targets.
Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications and demonstrate the skills listed below.
- Location: Must reside in the United States or Canada.
- Language: Native English speaker with excellent writing and grammar skills.
- Education: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (any field); degrees in English, Journalism, or Communications preferred.
- Experience: Prior prompt-response writing for AI/LLMs is highly preferred; experience on Scale AI, Appen, Remotasks, Amazon MTurk, or similar is a strong plus.
- Availability: Able to start immediately and commit to 20+ hours/week (at least 15 hours must be possible).
- Soft skills: Attention to detail, strong analytical thinking, ability to break down complex ideas into clear content, adaptability to guidelines, and ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
- Additional strengths: Background in business or science, content creation, or educational writing is helpful but not required.
Interview test
As part of the interview you will be asked to complete a short practical test. You will receive a Task Overview and Task Description and must produce one example prompt-and-response pair as if performing the task.
- Example Task Overview: review a website screenshot of an online bookstore homepage with sections like 'New Arrivals,' 'Best Sellers,' 'Genres,' a top search bar, and a banner for an upcoming author Q&A.
- Test Task: write one high-quality question and a detailed, specific response based on the screenshot. Your submission should demonstrate structure, clarity, and depth.
