About AI Training Work
AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human side of building intelligent systems. For generative chatbots, that means people write, edit, and rate example dialogues so models learn natural, safe, and useful responses.
This role focuses on generative AI: writing and refining sample prompts and replies, improving machine outputs, and helping conversational models understand French language nuance, register, and regional variation.
Role Overview
We are hiring a remote, part-time contract Creative Writer proficient in French to create and polish dialogue for LLM chatbot training. Pay is $27 USD per hour.
The listing asks for a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week and expresses a preferred commitment of 20+ hours per week; the role is classified as part-time/contract and as 'Less than 20 hours/week' in the posting metadata.
- Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
- Pay: $27 USD per hour
- Time: Minimum 10 hours/week; preferred 20+ hours/week (posting metadata: Less than 20 hours/week)
- Work is fully remote and flexible
What You'll Do
You will write, revise, and rate conversational content in French so LLMs produce authentic, culturally relevant, and grammatically correct responses.
- Generate original French prompt-response pairs and chatbot replies (TEXT_GENERATION, PROMPT_RESPONSE_WRITING_SFT).
- Answer structured question prompts in French (QUESTION_ANSWERING) with clear, context-aware responses.
- Edit and proofread AI-generated text to improve tone, clarity, and factual consistency.
- Adjust language for regional French dialects, register (formal/informal), and cultural relevance.
- Provide analytic feedback on problematic examples and suggest improvements to training data.
Requirements & Preferred Qualifications
Only facts from the job description are listed below. Candidates must meet the stated language and experience expectations; preferred items increase your qualification score but are not always mandatory.
- Strong command of written French across styles and registers; basic English to follow instructions.
- Over five years of creative or content writing in French is preferred; intermediate experience level is acceptable.
- Prior writing experience on data-labeling platforms (Remotasks, Outlier, Appen, DataAnnotation.tech, etc.) is highly preferred — specifically writing tasks rather than rating-only tasks.
- Background in business, science, or related field and currently pursuing or holding a Bachelor's degree or higher is desired.
- Analytical thinking, the ability to break down complex ideas, attention to detail, and strong editing/proofreading skills.
- Experience with AI chatbot tools (e.g., ChatGPT) is an advantage but not required.
- Portfolio of published French works (online or print) preferred; include links or descriptions if available.
Interview, Test & What We'll Ask
During the interview you will be asked about your writing experience on labeling platforms (how many years/months), your highest level of education, and to provide a portfolio link or descriptions of published works if you do not have links.
IMPORTANT: At the end of the interview ChatGPT will conduct a short test. Questions may be shown in English and French, but you must respond in French. The quality of these responses will heavily influence your qualification score.
- Interview questions will include how many years/months you have writing responses on platforms like Remotasks/Outlier/Appen.
- Be prepared to share your highest education level and a portfolio link or summary of published works.
