The Role

We are hiring a German Creative Writer for LLM chatbot training on a remote contract basis. Your primary responsibility is to generate, refine, and edit German dialogue and responses that will be used to train and fine-tune conversational AI.

This role emphasizes cultural authenticity, regional nuance, and high-quality written German across multiple styles and scenarios.

• Position type: Contractor, part-time.
• Pay: $24 USD per hour.
• Schedule: Flexible hours; minimum 10 hours/week, preferred 20+ hours/week.

What You'll Do

Create natural, culturally appropriate German responses to prompts and simulate realistic conversational turns across varied contexts.

Edit and improve AI-generated texts to ensure accuracy, tone, grammar, and engagement; produce concise summaries or rewrites when required.

• Write original prompt responses (text generation and SFT-style examples).
• Polish and summarize model outputs to improve quality (text summarization and editing).
• Apply knowledge of dialects and regional language differences to make responses relatable.
• Follow project-specific guidelines and quality rubrics provided by the team.

Requirements

You must be proficient in written German with strong grammar and the ability to write in multiple styles. Candidates should have solid creative or content writing experience in German.

Prior experience writing on AI/data-labeling platforms is highly preferred — specifically having completed WRITING tasks (not just rating/evaluation).

• Preferred: 5+ years of creative or content writing experience in German (substantial experience influences scoring).
• Preferred: Experience writing responses on platforms such as Remotasks, Outlier, Appen, DataAnnotation.tech, or similar.
• Basic English comprehension to follow instructions and communicate with the team.
• Editing and proofreading skills with attention to detail.
• Familiarity with AI chatbot tools (e.g., ChatGPT) is an advantage but not required.

Interview & Short Test

The interview includes questions about your platform experience and writing background; you will be asked how many months/years you have done writing tasks on data-labeling platforms and about your highest level of education and portfolio.

At the end of the interview there is a short German-language test that you must answer in German — results will strongly affect your qualification score.

• You will be asked if you have performed WRITING tasks (not just rating) on platforms like Remotasks or Outlier and to state duration of experience.
• Portfolio: provide links or descriptions of published German works if available.
• Test Question 1 (German): Beschreiben Sie kurz einen einzigartigen und lebendigen Charakter unter Verwendung kreativer Sprache. Ihre Beschreibung sollte mindestens zwei ausgeprägte Merkmale oder Eigenschaften enthalten.
• Test Question 2 (German): Verfassen Sie eine kurze E-Mail an Ihren Vorgesetzten, in der Sie um Feedback zum von Ihnen vorbereiteten 'Quartalsfinanzbericht' bitten. Konzentrieren Sie sich dabei auf die Datenanalyse und den Präsentationsstil.
• Test Question 3 (German): Erstellen Sie eine prägnante E-Mail, um einen introvertierten Freund zu überzeugen, sich als Gastredner bei einer lokalen Veranstaltung zu engagieren. Heben Sie zwei Vorteile der Teilnahme hervor und gehen Sie auf ein mögliches Bedenken ein.
