About OpenTrain
OpenTrain is a central job board for AI training and data-labeling roles. We aggregate openings from many AI companies and labeling platforms so contributors can find this kind of work in one place instead of searching dozens of sites.
Creating an OpenTrain account is free and applying takes only a few minutes. This listing is for a contract, part-time role focused on evaluating AI-generated Laravel code and improving model outputs.
About AI Training Work (Code Evaluation)
AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human side of building AI systems. For coding-focused projects, experts read, test, and rate AI-generated code or explanations so models learn to produce accurate, secure, and maintainable solutions.
This role contributes directly to better developer-facing AI: your judgments and rewritten answers will help models produce higher-quality Laravel code and clearer explanations for other developers.
The Role
We are seeking a Laravel developer to review AI-generated prompts, code snippets, and responses related to Laravel and provide structured, actionable feedback. You will act as an AI interviewer/evaluator to determine technical accuracy and communication clarity.
This is a contract, part-time position (<20 hours/week), remote and worldwide. Employment type: Contractor / Part-time. Work will be paid hourly at $20 USD/hour (PAY_PER_HOUR). Labeling work focuses on computer code/programming (label types: COMPUTER_PROGRAMMING_CODING).
- Compensation: $20 USD per hour.
- Time commitment: Less than 20 hours per week.
- Employment: Contractor, part-time, remote (worldwide).
- Labeling software: OTHER; data type: COMPUTER_CODE_PROGRAMMING.
What You'll Do
Evaluate AI-generated Laravel code, prompts, and explanations for correctness, security, performance, and adherence to Laravel best practices. Provide clear, structured feedback and suggested fixes or improvements.
Conduct interviewer-style assessments of candidates' Laravel knowledge and communication skills using a prescribed interview structure (see below). You will grade technical answers, identify errors or omissions in AI responses, and rewrite or improve model outputs when needed.
- Check syntax correctness, Eloquent usage, routing, middleware, Blade templating, API design, and security considerations.
- Identify inefficiencies, bugs, maintainability issues, and potential security vulnerabilities in AI-generated code.
- Provide rewritten answers or corrected code examples that follow Laravel best practices.
- Deliver concise, well-structured code review comments and beginner-friendly explanations when requested.
Requirements
Applicants must meet the specific requirements stated below. All items come from the role description and must be preserved.
Note: the job description requests deep Laravel experience while the listing's experienceLevel field is set to Entry level; applicants should follow the explicit technical requirements below.
- Minimum 5+ years hands-on experience with Laravel framework (architecture, Eloquent ORM, Blade, routing, middleware, APIs).
- Strong problem-solving skills and a solid understanding of Laravel best practices, security, and performance optimization.
- Excellent English writing skills to provide clear, structured, and actionable feedback.
- Experience with code reviews, documentation, or debugging is a plus.
- Availability to work under a part-time contractor arrangement and accept hourly pay at $20 USD/hour.
Interview & Evaluation Instructions (How You Will Work)
You will follow a structured AI-interviewer workflow for each candidate or AI response you evaluate. Keep the tone professional but approachable; encourage detailed, reasoned answers while remaining objective.
Preserve the exact interview structure below when conducting assessments or marking tasks.
- Introduction: Greet the candidate, explain the interview process, and state that you will assess Laravel expertise, AI-evaluation skills, and communication.
- Technical Questions: Ask about real Laravel experience (e.g., challenging projects), Eloquent, Blade, middleware, routing, queues, caching, debugging, query optimization, and security.
- Code Review Task: Present a Laravel code snippet and ask the candidate to identify issues, inefficiencies, or improvements.
- AI Response Evaluation: Provide an AI-generated response to a Laravel question and ask the candidate to assess accuracy, clarity, missing context, and to rewrite/improve the answer.
- Communication Tasks: Request a beginner-friendly explanation of a complex Laravel concept and a concise code review comment for a snippet.
- Closing: Ask if they have questions, thank them, and explain next steps.
- Evaluation Criteria: Assess Technical Proficiency, Critical Thinking (ability to assess and improve AI responses), and Communication Clarity.
Who Should Apply
Experienced Laravel developers who can evaluate AI outputs and translate technical judgments into clear feedback should apply. You should be comfortable acting as an interviewer and producing written explanations and code corrections.
This role is suitable for developers who prefer flexible, part-time remote work and are interested in influencing how AI generates developer-facing code and guidance.
- You are comfortable with contract, part-time assignments and flexible scheduling.
- You have strong written English and can explain technical concepts to both beginners and peers.
- You can assess and improve AI-generated code and explanations with a focus on correctness, security, and maintainability.
