About AI training (data labeling) work
AI models learn from examples prepared and reviewed by people. Tasks include annotating images and video, transcribing audio, rating model outputs, and more — this listing focuses on visual data used to train computer vision systems.
These roles are typically remote and flexible, and contributors directly shape how models perceive and understand visual content.
The role
We are hiring experienced image/video data-labeling freelancers based in Western Europe for a long-term annotation project. Work is remote and ongoing.
The project expects a steady commitment of roughly 15–20 hours per week (note: the project’s metadata lists a 20+ hrs/week time requirement). You will set your own hours as long as assigned tasks are completed on time.
- Data type: images and video (computer-vision content).
- Label types: bounding boxes, classification, object detection, point/keypoint, polygon, segmentation.
- Employment: contractor, part-time; project is ongoing/long-term.
- Payment: pay-per-hour, USD $14/hour (submit competitive rate proposals considering the long-term nature).
- Location requirement: must be located in Western Europe.
What you'll do
Perform high-quality annotations on image and video datasets using supplied labeling tools and guidelines. Tasks will vary and may include creating bounding boxes, detailed polygon masks, keypoints, segmentation masks and class labels.
- Annotate objects and scenes in images and video with bounding boxes and polygons.
- Label classes and attributes, and place point/keypoint annotations as required.
- Create segmentation masks and support object-detection workflows.
- Follow detailed labeling instructions and maintain high accuracy and consistency.
- Deliver completed tasks on the assigned schedule and report quality issues or ambiguous cases.
Requirements
Candidates must show proven, hands-on experience with image and video annotation and be able to work independently and reliably on a long-term project.
- 2–3+ years of practical experience in image/video data labeling (bounding boxes, polygons, segmentation, keypoints, classification).
- Proficiency with annotation tools such as Labelbox, CVAT, VGG Image Annotator, or similar platforms (labelingSoftware marked as OTHER is acceptable).
- Strong attention to detail and a track record of consistent, high-quality deliverables on long-term projects.
- Ability to manage time independently and meet deadlines for assigned tasks.
- Located in Western Europe and able to commit to ~15–20 hours per week.
- Willingness to propose competitive hourly pricing that reflects the ongoing nature of the project.
Who should apply
This role suits intermediate-level computer-vision annotators who prefer predictable, steady freelance work and who have a portfolio or history of image/video labeling.
Text-only or text-focused labelers should not apply — this role requires image and video annotation experience.
- Independent contractors with demonstrable computer-vision labeling experience.
- Freelancers available for a sustained weekly commitment and who can reliably meet quality targets.
Interview topics and what to include in your application
During screening you'll be asked about past image/video projects, the annotation tools you used, and how you ensured quality and consistency. The hiring team will also want to understand your availability and rate expectations given the long-term scope.
- Describe specific image/video annotation projects you completed and the label types you handled (bounding boxes, polygons, segmentation, keypoints, classification).
- Explain experience with online labeling platforms (examples to be ready to discuss: Scale AI, Remotasks, Appen) and which tools you used.
- Include typical turnaround times, accuracy rates or QA processes you've followed.
- State your weekly availability, proposed hourly rate (or confirm USD $14/hr if you accept), and any relevant portfolio or sample work.
How to apply
Create a free OpenTrain account and submit your application with a brief resume, examples or links to past labeling work, your proposed hourly rate, and your weekly availability.
Because this is a long-term project, please factor ongoing commitment into your proposed pricing and note any scheduling constraints up front.
- Sign up at OpenTrain and complete the quick application form.
- Attach or link to examples of image/video annotation work and list the tools you used.
- Provide your location (Western Europe), confirm weekly hours you can commit, and state your rate.
