About AI training work

AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback) is the human side of building AI. Experts check model outputs, correct errors, and provide clear guidance so models learn to produce accurate, safe, and useful results.

This project focuses on computer code: you will evaluate AI-generated Lua code, fix bugs, and explain corrections so future model outputs improve.

Role overview

We are seeking a Lua programming Subject Matter Expert (SME) based in India with C1-level English proficiency to contribute to an AI-training dataset.

Employment type: Contractor, part-time. Pay: USD 24 per hour. Expected commitment: 20+ hours per week. Work is performed remotely but candidates must be located in India.

  • Work type: Review, debug, correct AI-generated Lua code and document explanations.
  • Data type: Computer code programming; label types include coding evaluation and rating.
  • Labeling software: OTHER (details provided on assignment).

What you'll do

You will independently review AI-generated Lua snippets and programs, identify bugs or style issues, correct the code, and produce clear written explanations of each change.

  • Debug Lua code to meet industry standards and best practices.
  • Provide corrected code samples with concise, clear technical explanations in English.
  • Rate and evaluate AI outputs for correctness, safety, and maintainability.
  • Manage tasks efficiently and deliver consistent, high-quality output on schedule.

Qualifications & requirements

Candidates must meet all of the following mandatory requirements. We will verify qualifications during a skills test and live interview.

  • 7+ years of professional experience with the Lua programming language — be prepared to describe what you have built and provide real-world examples.
  • Located in India (remote work allowed, must reside in India).
  • C1-level English proficiency with clear written communication and the ability to explain complex technical concepts.
  • Strong debugging skills, attention to detail, and experience producing technical documentation.
  • Available for at least 20 hours per week; you will be asked to specify an exact weekly hour commitment during the interview.

Interview & hiring process (must-read)

At the start of the interview you will be required to complete a coding/skill test and participate in a live interview. If you are dishonest during the interview or test you will be permanently banned from the OpenTrain AI platform.

During the interview the hiring reviewer will ask specific questions and must include your answers in the AI interview summary. Please answer clearly and precisely.

  • You must answer: What is your highest level of education?
  • You must answer: How many years of experience do you have with Lua? (give an exact number)
  • You must answer: How many hours per week can you commit if hired? (give an exact number, not a range)
  • You must provide concrete examples of projects or systems you have built with Lua, including your role and outcomes.
  • A coding/skill test and live interview are required before any offer is made.

How the contract works

This is a contractor, part-time engagement paid per hour in USD at the listed rate. Assignments will be delivered through the project platform using the specified labeling software (OTHER).

Expect iterative task batches: you will receive code examples to review, complete corrections and explanations, and submit them for evaluation. Payment and scheduling details will be provided when you are onboarded.

  • Compensation: USD 24 per hour, paid per hour worked.
  • Employment types: Contractor, Part-time.
  • Onboarding includes a skills test, live interview, and verification of location and qualifications.
