About AI Training Work
AI training is the human side of building intelligent systems: people prepare, rate, and review examples so models learn to perform real tasks. In this project you’ll help shape music-focused tools that producers and engineers will use.
This work is commonly remote, flexible, and accessible — you don’t always need prior labeling experience, but domain expertise in music is valuable and rewarded.
- Work remotely from anywhere with an internet connection.
- Flexible, project-based hours that often let you choose your schedule.
- Contributors directly influence how AI behaves in real music workflows.
The Role
We’re hiring music professionals to annotate, categorize, and evaluate audio so AI models learn to support audio production, sound design, and mastering across genres.
This is a part-time contractor position (less than 20 hours/week) paid at an hourly rate of USD 25. The project is worldwide and open to entry-level contributors who meet the music-focused requirements.
- Data type: Audio — music in a variety of genres.
- Label types: Evaluation / Rating tasks.
- Labeling software: Other (project will provide the annotation tool).
- Employment: Contractor, part-time.
- Pay: $25 per hour.
- Time commitment: Less than 20 hours per week.
- Experience level: Entry level (music domain experience required).
What You’ll Do
You’ll listen to music clips, rate their fit or quality, add category labels, and write concise evaluative feedback so models learn musical judgement relevant to production and mastering.
Expect to work project-by-project, meet deadlines, and collaborate with remote reviewers and project leads.
- Annotate and categorize music audio across genres.
- Provide clear, actionable evaluation ratings and short comments.
- Apply technical knowledge of production workflows when judging audio.
- Follow task instructions and quality guidelines precisely.
- Complete small test tasks during onboarding to demonstrate skills.
Requirements
This project specifically needs people with music experience — not general audio work. Review each requirement carefully before applying.
- Formal education or professional experience in music production, audio engineering, or a closely related music field.
- Minimum B1/B2 English proficiency (CEFR) for clear communication and documentation.
- Advanced technical knowledge of audio tools, production techniques, and workflows.
- Good written communication and ability to collaborate with remote teams.
- Ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality, consistent annotations.
- Experience in mixing, mastering, or sound design is a plus.
- Willingness to complete a short test project in the next 1–3 days (approx. 1 hour).
Interview & Pricing Instructions
There is a short interview/test process to verify music expertise and annotation skills. Follow the interview guidelines below and complete the required sample task.
- Interview guideline: avoid yes/no questions — use open-ended prompts (e.g., ask applicants to state their English level in CEFR format rather than asking if they have B1/B2).
- Test task: you will be asked to do a ~1 hour sample annotation within 1–3 days of application.
- IMPORTANT: After the interview you will be asked on the next screen to enter your price for this project. You may enter any price, but hiring decisions will be influenced by who offers the most competitive price.
