About AI Training Work
AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human work that teaches models how to interpret language, audio, images, and more. Contributors do tasks such as evaluating outputs, rating content, and transcribing or annotating data — work that’s remote, flexible, and accessible to people with a range of skills and backgrounds.
The Role
We’re hiring annotators based in Spain to evaluate how well two music tracks fit long English song lyrics. This is an audio evaluation/rating task: you’ll listen, compare, and select the track that best aligns with the lyrics, then write a clear explanation of your choice.
This role is remote, contractor, and part-time (less than 20 hours/week). Pay ranges from $10.00 to $11.00 per hour depending on your familiarity with diverse music genres.
- Data type: audio; label type: evaluation/rating.
- Location: must reside in Spain and work with a reliable internet connection.
- Employment: contractor, part-time; flexible schedule under 20 hours/week.
What You’ll Do
Perform structured comparisons between provided English lyrics and two candidate music tracks, then record a justified selection explaining why one track fits better than the other.
- Read and comprehend long English lyrics (B1/B2 level or above).
- Listen to two music tracks and compare mood, tempo, instrumentation, and lyrical fit.
- Select the track that best matches the lyrics and write a concise explanation in English.
- Enter ratings and explanations into the project’s annotation software (project-specified/OTHER).
- Follow project guidelines on non-leading, evidence-based explanations.
Requirements
The position is entry level but requires specific language and logistical qualifications listed below.
- Strong English comprehension (minimum B1/B2 CEFR) and ability to write clear, concise explanations in English.
- Familiarity with a variety of music genres is highly preferred and influences pay rate within the $10–$11/hr range.
- Attention to detail and an analytical approach to comparing lyrics and musical style.
- Must reside in Spain and have a reliable internet connection for remote work.
- Availability for less than 20 hours per week and willingness to work as a contractor, part-time.
Who Should Apply
This role is a good fit for music enthusiasts, students, or part-time remote workers in Spain who enjoy listening analytically and can explain choices in English. No prior annotation experience is required if you meet the language and location requirements.
How To Apply & Interview Guidelines
Create a free OpenTrain account to apply and submit your profile and availability. During screening you will be asked to demonstrate your English level and musical familiarity using open-ended answers.
- Do not answer screening questions with yes/no; provide CEFR format for English (e.g., B1, B2) when asked about language level.
- When asked about music familiarity, describe what genres you listen to and explain your level of familiarity rather than answering yes/no.
- Example screening prompts: 'What is your English level in CEFR format?' and 'Which music genres do you listen to and how would you describe your familiarity with them?'
