About AI training work
This role is part of the human work that makes modern AI systems accurate and useful: people listen, transcribe, and label speech so models can learn correct language patterns and behavior. Tasks are typically remote, flexible, and accessible to many contributors.
- Remote-friendly: do the work from home with a computer, headphones, and internet.
- Flexible hours: choose when to complete daily tasks within the schedule.
- Meaningful contribution: your transcriptions help train and improve speech models.
The role
We are hiring native French speakers currently located in France for a long-term, part-time transcription contract. You will transcribe short French recordings and perform simple listening-based verification and labeling steps using the project's web platform. Consistency and accuracy matter more than speed.
- Position type: Contractor, Part-time.
- Time commitment: ~1 hour per day, Monday–Friday; less than 20 hours/week; long-term (12+ months).
- Pay: $15 USD per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR).
- Data type: Audio; Label type: Transcription; Platform: web-based tooling (OTHER).
- Experience level: Entry level (preferred transcription experience welcomed).
What you'll do
Your primary task is to listen carefully to short French audio clips and produce clean, standardized transcripts that reflect what was said. You will also use the platform's predefined options to flag unclear or unusable audio and mark segments you cannot confidently transcribe.
- Transcribe short conversational French recordings into accurate, standardized text.
- Apply project rules precisely — use correct spelling, accents, punctuation, and capitalization.
- Flag unclear/unusable audio and mark unintelligible segments per platform conventions.
- Perform simple verification and labeling steps (not translation or creative writing).
Requirements
You must meet all location and language qualifications and be able to follow strict transcription guidelines consistently.
- Currently located in France — France-based applicants only.
- Native French speaker (France French) with native-level written accuracy.
- Strong command of French spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and standard writing conventions.
- Comfortable applying strict guidelines without improvising.
- Able to handle imperfect audio and mark unclear sections appropriately.
- Capable of making careful listening judgments (minor mispronunciations vs. different words).
- Commitment: ~1 hour/day, Monday–Friday, long-term (12+ months).
- Reliable internet, a computer suitable for web-based tools, quality headphones, and a quiet workspace.
- Willing to complete a short French transcription screening sample before starting.
Who should apply
This role is a good fit for careful, detail-oriented native French speakers who write French accurately and prefer steady, short daily tasks. Prior transcription or captioning experience is a plus but not required.
- You enjoy focused listening tasks and following detailed instructions.
- You value consistency and accuracy over speed.
- You want a predictable, low-hours daily commitment with flexible timing.
How it works
If you meet the requirements, you will apply through OpenTrain and complete a short French transcription screening sample. Once approved, you'll receive access to the project's web-based platform to claim and complete daily tasks at times that work for you. This is contractor work paid at the stated hourly rate.
- Apply via OpenTrain — account creation is free and fast.
- Complete the screening transcription sample to demonstrate accuracy.
- Work through the project's web platform and log hours as instructed.
