The role

We’re hiring native Italian speakers based in Italy to produce verbatim transcripts and perform simple audio verification on short Italian recordings. This is long-term, ongoing work with a steady cadence of about 1 hour per day, Monday–Friday.

Consistency and accuracy matter more than speed. You will follow strict transcription guidelines and use predefined options to flag unclear or unusable audio.

• Dataset: short Italian audio clips for transcription (audio).
• Labeling types: text generation (transcripts), evaluation/rating (audio verification), and audio-related annotation.
• Labeling software: Labelbox (web-based tools).
• Schedule: ~1 hour/day, Monday–Friday, long-term (12+ months) with flexible daily timing.

What you'll do

Listen to short Italian recordings and produce clean, standardized verbatim transcripts that reflect what was said (not translations or creative rewrites).

Perform simple listening-based verification steps—flag unclear/unusable audio and mark segments you cannot confidently transcribe—using predefined options and conventions.

• Follow detailed transcription rules exactly; no improvisation.
• Mark inaudible or low-quality segments using the project's conventions.
• Prioritize accuracy and consistency over speed.

Requirements

All requirements below are mandatory unless noted as preferred. You must be currently located in Italy to apply.

• Currently located in Italy (Italy-based applicants only).
• Native Italian speaker with native-level writing accuracy.
• Strong command of Italian spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and standard conventions.
• Comfortable applying strict transcription guidelines consistently.
• Able to handle imperfect audio and mark unclear sections appropriately.
• Can commit to ~1 hour/day, Monday–Friday, long-term (12+ months).
• Reliable internet, a computer suitable for web-based tools, quality headphones, and a quiet workspace.
• Willing to complete a short Italian transcription screening sample before starting.
• Required English level: Native or Bilingual.
• Prior experience with transcription, captioning/subtitling, or speech data labeling/QA is preferred (not required).

This is a contractor, part-time position paid per hour at USD $11.00/hour. You will be asked to complete a short screening transcription sample before onboarding.
