About AI Training Work — Dictionary Proofreading

This project is part of the human work behind modern AI systems: preparing clean, accurate linguistic examples that models use to learn pronunciation and spelling. Dictionary proofreading helps language models and speech systems pronounce and recognize Malay correctly.

The task focuses on text-based proofreading of dictionary entries: verifying whether entries are Malay, correcting spellings, and validating or correcting pronunciation transcriptions using a provided phoneme set.

  • Human-reviewed dictionary entries improve model accuracy for Malay.
  • Work is text-based and performed in the project's annotation interface.

The Role

We are hiring native Malay speakers to join a short-term, remote proofreading project as contract contributors. This is expert-level work requiring high accuracy and attention to phonetic detail.

Candidates must pass a qualification test before starting and will perform proofreading in the project's provided interface (labeling software: OTHER). The project is expected to end in July.

  • Role: Dictionary proofreading — spelling and phoneme transcription checks.
  • Experience level: Expert.
  • Contract type: Contractor, Part-time.

What You'll Do

You will review dictionary-style entries and decide whether each word is Malay. For Malay words, correct spelling errors and verify or revise pronunciations according to the project's specified phoneme set.

Follow the project's examples and correction rules exactly. The client will perform spot checks; work below the accuracy threshold must be redone.

  • Determine whether a word is Malay and correct its spelling.
  • Proofread and correct pronunciation transcriptions using the provided phoneme set.
  • Use the project interface to submit corrected entries and mark uncertain cases as instructed.
  • Adhere to the project's examples and format.
  • Maintain an accuracy rate of at least 97%.

Example Corrections (from task brief)

Use examples like the ones below as a guide for how to mark spellings and phoneme corrections:

Original entries and corrected forms show how to fix spelling errors and adjust phoneme sequences according to the phoneme set.

  • polifonik p o . l i . f o . n i k → polifonik p o . l i . f o . n i ?
  • poligami b o l . l i . g a . m i → poligami p o . l i . g a . m i
  • polliglot p o . l i g . l a t → poliglot p o . l i g . l o t

Requirements & Schedule

Candidates must be native Malay speakers and able to dedicate sufficient time during the project period. The client expects contributors to be available at least 3 hours per day while the project runs, and the listing specifies 20+ hours per week.

You must pass the project's qualification test before beginning. The project is scheduled to finish in July; plan your availability accordingly.
