About OpenTrain

OpenTrain aggregates data-labeling and AI-training opportunities from many companies into one job board so contributors can find this kind of work in a single place instead of hunting dozens of sites. Creating an OpenTrain account is free and applying takes only a few minutes.

About AI Training Work

AI systems learn from examples people create and review. Tasks include annotating images, transcribing audio, writing or rating model responses, and more. This role is part of that human-centered work: you will produce polygon segmentation data that helps vision models learn to recognize and separate objects.

  • This kind of work is often remote and accessible to people without prior experience.
  • Many projects allow flexible hours and pay per task or per hour depending on the client and role.

The Role

You will perform polygon segmentation on recycling images, outlining individual objects that exceed a specified size threshold. Labels will be created in CVAT and you'll use the Segment Anything interactor alongside CVAT to produce precise polygons.

  • Data type: IMAGE
  • Label types: OBJECT_DETECTION, POLYGON, SEGMENTATION
  • Labeling software: CVAT (use of Segment Anything interactor encouraged)
  • Employment type: CONTRACTOR
  • Location: Worldwide / remote

What You'll Do

Work through image frames and create polygon outlines around each distinct object above the specified size threshold. Distinguish and separate individual items when multiple objects appear in a single frame.

  • Use CVAT to draw and save polygon segmentations.
  • Leverage the Segment Anything interactor tool alongside CVAT as part of your workflow.
  • Follow project instructions for size thresholds and object separation rules.
  • Start with a small batch; further assignments depend on meeting speed and accuracy targets.

Requirements

This is an entry-level role. There are no formal qualifications required beyond careful, accurate work. Familiarity with CVAT and the Segment Anything interactor tool is advantageous but not mandatory.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to distinguish unique objects in frames with multiple items.
  • Comfort using CVAT (preferred) or willingness to learn quickly.
  • Reliable internet connection and a device capable of running CVAT.

Compensation and Terms

Pay is hourly at USD 5.00 per hour on a contract basis. You will begin with a small amount of work so we can confirm that your speed and accuracy meet the project's requirements; additional work may be offered based on performance.

  • Payment type: PAY_PER_HOUR
  • Hourly rate: $5.00 USD
  • Start: small test assignment with potential for more work

How It Works / How To Apply

Create a free OpenTrain account and apply through the job listing. The application process typically takes only a few minutes. If selected, you'll receive the initial test batch and project instructions, including size thresholds and labeling guidelines.

  • Apply on OpenTrain with your profile and experience notes (mention CVAT experience if you have it).
  • Complete the small test assignment so speed and accuracy can be evaluated.
  • If you meet the requirements, additional contract work may be offered.
