About AI Training Work

AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human side of building language models and chatbots. People prepare and refine example responses, rate outputs, and write new text so models learn to produce accurate, safe, and useful language.

This role focuses on training conversational models in Portuguese: your writing will shape the chatbot's voice, cultural authenticity, and ability to handle real user prompts.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled Creative Writer proficient in Portuguese for a remote contract position focused on LLM chatbot training. You will generate and edit authentic, culturally relevant responses to prompts and improve AI-generated text for quality and realism.

This is a part-time contractor role (worldwide remote). Pay is USD 17 per hour. The project is labeled as Less than 20 hours/week on the platform; the role requests a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week with a preferred commitment of 20+ hours per week. Scheduling is flexible.

  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
  • Payment: USD 17 per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR)
  • Work location: Remote, worldwide
  • Labeling software: OTHER; Data type: TEXT
  • Label/task types: PROMPT_RESPONSE_WRITING_SFT, TEXT_GENERATION, TEXT_SUMMARIZATION

What You'll Do

Produce original Portuguese responses to given prompts that are engaging, natural, and culturally appropriate. Edit and refine AI-generated outputs to meet quality and tone requirements.

Work on a variety of short-form and conversational writing tasks that help teach chatbots how to understand and respond to user intent across dialects and situations.

  • Write conversational replies, role-play dialogue, and short narratives in Portuguese.
  • Edit and proofread AI-generated text to improve grammar, tone, and clarity.
  • Adapt language to reflect regional Portuguese dialects and cultural nuance.
  • Summarize or rewrite prompts and responses as required for model training.

Requirements

Candidates must be proficient in written Portuguese and able to write in multiple styles with strong grammar and editing skills. A basic understanding of English is required to follow instructions and communicate with the team.

Previous experience writing on data-labeling platforms (Remotasks, Outlier, Appen, DataAnnotation.tech, etc.) is highly preferred — specifically experience performing WRITING tasks rather than only rating or evaluation work.

  • Preferred: 5+ years of creative writing or content creation in Portuguese (preferred but not strictly required).
  • Preferred: Prior writing tasks on platforms like Remotasks, Outlier, Appen, or similar.
  • Portfolio of published Portuguese works preferred (links or descriptions accepted).
  • Basic English proficiency for instructions and communication.
  • Experience with AI chatbot tools (e.g., ChatGPT) is an advantage but not required.
  • Strong editing and proofreading ability.
  • During screening, you will be asked how many years/months you have writing on these platforms and your highest level of education.

Interview and Short Test

The interview includes direct questions about your platform writing experience, portfolio, and education. At the end of the interview, ChatGPT will administer a short test: questions are provided in English and Portuguese, and you must respond in Portuguese. Test performance strongly affects your qualification score.

The interviewer will ask for a portfolio link or descriptions of published work if no links are available, and will specifically ask how many years/months of writing experience you have on labeling platforms.

  • You will be asked about years/months of experience writing responses on platforms (not just rating).
  • You will be asked to state your highest level of education.
  • Test: questions are given in English and Portuguese, responses must be in Portuguese.

Test Questions (you will answer in Portuguese)

At the end of the interview you must answer these sample questions in Portuguese. Your answers should be precise, natural, and showcase creative and professional writing ability.

How to Apply

Apply through OpenTrain by creating a free account and submitting the requested information. Prepare a short portfolio link or descriptions of published work, and include how many years/months you have doing writing tasks on labeling platforms and your typical availability.

Applications should note preferred weekly hours and confirm ability to commit at least 10 hours per week (preferred 20+). Successful applicants will be contacted for an interview and the short Portuguese test.

  • Include portfolio link or descriptions of published Portuguese work.
  • State years/months of platform writing experience and highest education level.
  • Confirm minimum availability of 10 hours/week and indicate if you can meet the preferred 20+ hours.
