About AI Training Work

AI training (data labeling, annotation, or human feedback) is the human work that teaches machine learning models to perform tasks reliably. Experts provide examples, evaluations, and corrections so models learn to reason, rate outputs, and make safer decisions.

  • Work is typically remote and flexible, often requiring domain knowledge rather than machine-learning experience.
  • Tasks include evaluating outputs, writing explanations, and creating structured feedback that becomes training data.

The Role

micro1 is recruiting a Public Equity Investment Expert contractor to contribute domain expertise directly to AI training programs. This role asks you to evaluate investment scenarios, critique capital structures, and produce structured expert feedback that helps AI systems learn how to reason about public equity markets and debt.

  • Fully remote contractor position with flexible hours; you will be engaged as a subject-matter expert.
  • This role emphasizes deep financial knowledge rather than prior AI or annotation experience.

What You'll Do

You will deliver clear, structured expert feedback and assessments that form part of training and evaluation datasets. Work combines qualitative critique and quantitative analysis tailored for model training.

  • Evaluate investment scenarios using deep knowledge of public equity markets and provide nuanced expert feedback.
  • Analyze and critique company capital structures, including equity, debt, and hybrid instruments.
  • Apply advanced debt modeling skills to dissect leveraged bonds and loans and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Assess risk profiles of public companies with a focus on company debt and credit structures.
  • Deliver clear written and verbal explanations that inform and improve AI systems' understanding of public equity dynamics.
  • Contribute to the development of datasets and evaluation processes that reflect real-world financial complexity.

Requirements

Candidates must demonstrate domain expertise in public equity investments, capital-structure analysis, and debt instruments. Prior AI or data-labeling experience is not required; deep financial knowledge is essential.

  • Proven expertise in public equity investments with a strong focus on capital structures and debt instruments.
  • In-depth experience with debt modeling and risk analysis in public markets.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of company debt, leveraged bonds, and loan structures.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to convey complex financial concepts clearly.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities, able to synthesize data from multiple sources.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in documentation and feedback.
  • Language: English (required).

Helpful Background

The following qualifications are desirable but not mandatory. They help you contribute more quickly to dataset design and reviewer training.

  • Advanced degree in finance, economics, or a related field.
  • Experience training or mentoring others on capital structure analysis or debt modeling.
  • Familiarity with IC memos, CIMs, PPMs, PE board decks, and public filings.
  • Prior exposure to AI, data annotation, or financial technology projects.

Schedule, Pay, and Logistics

This is a fully remote contractor role. Availability and hours per week are flexible and discussed during screening; candidates should be prepared to state their available hours. The expected minimum weekly commitment is 20+ hours per week.

  • Employment types: Contractor, Part-time.
  • Work location: Worldwide / Remote.
  • Compensation: Paid per hour at $200–$300 USD/hour (PAY_PER_HOUR).
  • Data type: TEXT. Label types: EVALUATION_RATING and TEXT_GENERATION.

How It Works / How to Apply
