About AI training (data-labeling) work

AI training is the human work that helps models learn: people review, correct, and rate examples so models become accurate, safe, and useful. For coding-focused projects, contributors check generated code, fix bugs, and explain corrections so models improve over time.

This role contributes directly to AI quality by ensuring Rust code produced by models meets industry standards and is well explained for future training.

The Role

We are looking for a Rust programming language Subject Matter Expert (SME) based in India to help develop AI training datasets. You will review, debug, and correct code generated by AI models and clearly document and explain every correction to improve model outputs.

This is a contractor, part-time role with a typical time requirement of 20+ hours per week. Pay is USD 26 per hour. The listing indicates Experience level: Entry level, while the qualifications require 7+ years of Rust experience.

  • Position: Subject Matter Expert — Rust programming language
  • Location requirement: Located in India
  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
  • Compensation: $26 USD per hour
  • Expected time commitment: 20+ hours/week

What you'll do

Work independently to evaluate and improve AI-generated Rust code, focusing on correctness, robustness, and adherence to best practices.

Produce clear, technical documentation and explanations for each correction so training teams understand why changes were made.

  • Review AI-generated Rust snippets and complete programs for correctness and style
  • Debug and correct functional and safety issues in Rust code
  • Document each correction with a clear, educational explanation
  • Provide evaluation ratings where required (code quality, correctness, adherence to spec)
  • Manage tasks efficiently and deliver consistent, high-quality outputs

Requirements

Candidates must meet all stated qualifications and be able to demonstrate real-world Rust experience and strong written English communication.

Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in English are essential.

  • 7+ years of professional experience with the Rust programming language — be prepared to describe what you built with Rust and give concrete examples
  • Located in India (this role requires India-based candidates)
  • C1-level English proficiency (able to write clear technical explanations)
  • Experience with debugging and technical documentation
  • Able to work independently and manage a regular task load

Interview, testing, and honesty policy

At the start of the interview you will be required to undergo a coding/skill test and a live interview; passing both is required to be considered for the job. If you are dishonest during this interview you will be permanently banned from the OpenTrain AI platform.

During the interview we will ask specific background questions and include your answers in the AI interview summary.

  • Required interview questions (you will be asked these and your answers will be recorded): What is your highest level of education?
  • Required interview questions: How many years of experience do you have with Rust? (give an exact number)
  • Required interview questions: How many hours per week can you commit if hired? Provide an exact number (e.g., "20-25" is not acceptable; give a precise figure such as "20" or "25").
  • Interviewers will also ask for detailed examples of real-world Rust work you have done (projects, responsibilities, and outcomes)

How to apply

Create a free OpenTrain account and submit your application. The application process is quick and only takes a few minutes.

If selected, you will be invited to complete a coding/skill test and a live interview where the required questions above will be asked and your answers recorded in the AI interview summary.

  • Prepare concrete examples of Rust projects you've built and be ready to discuss details
  • Be ready to commit to 20+ hours per week and to state an exact weekly hour commitment during the interview
  • Honesty in the interview is mandatory — dishonesty leads to a permanent ban from the platform
