About AI Training Work
AI training (data labeling/annotation) is the human work that helps models learn: people prepare and review examples such as code snippets, evaluations, and written responses so models become accurate and useful.
This role helps build high-quality datasets used in tools, research, and educational materials across software and computer science domains.
The Role
We are hiring Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in one of 43 software/computer science categories to review, categorize, and annotate technical content. Your work will improve dataset quality for learning models, tools, and educational content.
This is a contract, part-time position paid per hour at $40 USD. You must be located in the United States, be a native-level English speaker, and have 5+ years of experience in the single category you select.
- Pay: $40/hour (PAY_PER_HOUR).
- Employment type: Contractor, Part-time.
- Time requirement: 20+ hours/week (you will be asked to provide an exact weekly-hour commitment during interview).
- Data type: Computer code / programming. Label types: computer programming/coding, evaluation/rating, prompt/response writing (SFT).
- Labeling software: Other (platform provided by the client).
Available Categories (select exactly one)
You may apply for only one category. You must have at least five years of experience specifically in the category you choose.

What You'll Do
Review, annotate, and categorize technical examples, code snippets, and model responses according to project guidelines.
Provide evaluations and ratings for model outputs and write or refine prompts/responses where required by the task.
- Perform coding-focused labeling and correctness checks.
- Rate and evaluate model-generated responses for accuracy, clarity, and technical validity.
- Produce or edit prompt/response pairs as part of supervised fine-tuning (SFT) tasks.
Requirements & Qualifications
You must be located in the United States and be a native English speaker.
You must have a minimum of 5+ years of subject-matter experience in exactly one of the listed categories.
You must be willing to work at least 20+ hours per week and provide an exact weekly-hours commitment during the interview (ranges like "20+" without specifics are not sufficient).
- Must select exactly one category to apply for.
- Must have 5+ years of experience in the chosen category.
- Native-level English required.
- U.S. residency required.
Interview, Testing, and Conduct
At the start of the interview you will be required to undergo a coding/skill test and a live interview; passing both is required for consideration. Dishonesty during the interview will result in permanent ban from the OpenTrain AI platform.
During the interview the interviewer will ask the questions below and will include your answers clearly in the AI interview record.
- Which category you are applying for (you may only select one).
- Your highest level of education.
- How many years of experience you have in the category you selected.
- How many hours per week you can commit to the project if hired (an exact number, not a vague range).
How To Apply
Create a free OpenTrain account, choose the single category you qualify for, and submit your application with your resume and a brief summary of relevant experience.
Be prepared to take the coding/skill test and attend the live interview; you will be asked to state the exact weekly hours you can commit and confirm your education and years of experience in the chosen category.
- Applications are reviewed for location, native English proficiency, subject-matter fit, and years of experience.
- This role is contract and part-time; compensation is $40/hour.
