About AI Training Work

AI training (also called data labeling, annotation, or human feedback) is the human work that teaches modern AI models how to understand and produce language. Typical tasks include writing and rating model responses, creating prompts, summarizing, and improving generated text.

This role focuses on writing and editing text examples that LLMs learn from—your texts will shape how chatbots speak, handle regional Spanish variants, and interact naturally with users.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled Creative Writer proficient in Spanish (Mexico/Chile focus) for a remote contractor role training AI chatbots. You will generate authentic, culturally relevant responses to prompts and improve AI-generated text so it reads naturally and engages users.

This is contract, part-time work with flexible hours. The position is open worldwide and requires reliable internet access and the ability to deliver high-quality Spanish writing.

  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
  • Work location: Fully remote, worldwide
  • Time commitment: Minimum 10 hours/week, preferred 20+ hours/week
  • Pay: USD 8.21 per hour

What You’ll Do

Produce original Spanish responses and dialogue for LLM prompts, ensuring natural tone, regional nuance, and grammatical accuracy.

Edit and refine AI-generated text to improve clarity, coherence, and cultural relevance. Work on content types including prompt-response writing, question answering, text generation, and summarization.

  • Write high-quality prompt responses and example dialogues for chatbot training (label types: PROMPT_RESPONSE_WRITING_SFT, QUESTION_ANSWERING, TEXT_GENERATION, TEXT_SUMMARIZATION).
  • Proofread and edit generated outputs to meet style and quality guidelines.
  • Apply regional Spanish variations (Mexico, Chile) to make interactions feel authentic.

Requirements

You must be proficient in written Spanish and able to write across multiple styles with excellent grammar. A basic understanding of English is required to follow instructions and communicate with the team.

Previous experience writing on online data-labeling or AI-training platforms (for example Remotasks, Outlier, Appen, DataAnnotation.tech) is highly preferred—specifically WRITING tasks rather than only rating or evaluation work.

  • Preferred: 5+ years of creative or content writing experience in Spanish (preferred, not strictly required).
  • Experience performing writing tasks on platforms like Remotasks, Outlier, Appen, or similar is highly preferred.
  • Portfolio of published Spanish work preferred; be ready to share links or descriptions.
  • Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and strong editing/proofreading skills.
  • Basic English comprehension for instructions and communication.
  • Education: currently pursuing or holding a Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred; interview will ask highest level of education.

Interview & Short Test

During the interview you will be asked to specify how many years/months of experience you have performing writing tasks on data-labeling platforms and to provide a link to or description of your writing portfolio. The interviewer will also ask about your highest level of education.

At the end of the interview there is a short practical test: questions are given in English and Spanish, but you must respond in Spanish. Your responses to the test will strongly affect your qualification score.

How to Apply

If you meet the requirements and are excited by language and AI, apply through OpenTrain. Be prepared to list your relevant platform experience (years/months), provide a portfolio or samples, and confirm availability for the hours you can commit.

This role pays USD 8.21/hour, is contract/part-time, and supports flexible scheduling. Your work will directly shape conversational AI in Spanish for real users and applications.
