About AI training and this role

AI systems learn from human examples and feedback. This job is part of the human side of AI: you will evaluate spoken outputs so models learn to speak more naturally in Irish English.

You will work with audio data, rating model responses and providing structured comments that help engineers and linguists fine-tune pronunciation, intonation and fluency.

The role

Title: Speech & Accent Evaluator — Irish English. Employment: Contractor, part-time. Time commitment: Less than 20 hours/week. Pay: $20 USD per hour, paid per project terms.

You will interact with an AI model in Irish English: provide audio prompts where required, listen to AI-generated speech, assign evaluation ratings, and deliver constructive, structured feedback on accent, pronunciation and fluency.

  • Data type: AUDIO; label type: EVALUATION_RATING.
  • Labeling software: OTHER (project provides the audio interface and rating tool).
  • Work arrangement: Remote but applicants must be based in Ireland.

What you'll do day to day

Assess and rate AI-generated audio for accent accuracy, pronunciation, fluency and naturalness using the project's rating scales.

Provide clear, structured written feedback detailing errors, unnatural patterns, and suggestions for improvement so model developers can iterate on outputs.

  • Listen to AI responses and assign evaluation ratings (e.g., 1–7 or project-specific scale).
  • Identify accent-specific phonetic features, mispronunciations, prosody or fluency issues.
  • Suggest targeted remediation for iterative re-generation until outputs meet target ratings.

Interview-style evaluation duties

As part of some tasks you will play the role of an AI interviewer assessing a speaker's linguistic expertise and accent proficiency. Use a professional yet conversational tone to keep participants engaged and maintain objective assessments.

Follow the structured interview flow when required so your evaluations are consistent and actionable for model training.

  • Greet the speaker and explain the assessment goals and process.
  • Ask about the speaker's use of Irish English (e.g., how long they have used it professionally or daily).
  • Request descriptions of common Irish English phonetic or intonation features.
  • Explain iterative generation: continue evaluating and guiding the model until it achieves a perfect rating (e.g., 7/7) and describe what to improve each iteration.
  • Ask final questions, invite the speaker's questions, thank them and explain next steps.

Requirements

Applicants must be based in Ireland and have at least 2 years of experience using Irish English in daily communication, either personally or professionally.

You should have strong attention to detail and the ability to provide clear, structured feedback on speech patterns. A background in linguistics, phonetics, speech analysis, or language teaching is a plus but not required.

  • Location: Must be based in Ireland.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years using Irish English in daily life or work.
  • Experience level: Entry level acceptable; strong communication and analytic skills required.
  • Equipment: Reliable internet access and a computer or device capable of playing and recording audio.

How you'll be evaluated and next steps

Your work will be judged on linguistic accuracy, ability to identify accent and fluency issues, iterative improvement skills, and clarity of feedback. These are the same criteria we expect you to apply when evaluating AI audio.

If selected, you'll receive onboarding and task instructions for the project's audio interface and rating guidelines. Apply through OpenTrain to begin the short screening and onboarding process.

  • Evaluation criteria: Linguistic accuracy; speech evaluation skills; iterative improvement mindset; communication clarity.
  • Apply with your OpenTrain profile and confirm you are based in Ireland and meet the 2-year Irish English experience requirement.
