About OpenTrain
OpenTrain is a central job board for AI training and data-labeling work. We gather short-term and ongoing projects from many AI companies and labeling platforms so you can discover this type of work in one place.
Creating an OpenTrain account is free and applying usually takes only a few minutes.
- We list remote, flexible tasks used to train and improve AI systems.
- This posting connects you to a freelance project that evaluates AI reading recommendations.
About AI Training Work
AI systems learn from examples and human feedback. Tasks include conversations, rating suggestions, and writing short responses that help models give better, safer, and more useful outputs.
Many projects are entry level: they require attention to detail, fluency in a language, or domain-specific familiarity rather than formal credentials.
- Work is usually remote and flexible.
- Your contributions directly influence how future AI recommendation tools behave.
The Role
We’re hiring English-speaking readers who know U.S. culture and U.S. literature to participate in an AI chat and feedback project. No specific educational background is required—just excellent English, a genuine love of books, and familiarity with U.S. authors, genres, or titles.
This is an entry-level, contractor, part-time assignment. You will complete three AI-driven conversations (each 20–30 minutes) about your favorite authors, genres, and must-reads, followed by feedback on the experience. Total time commitment is approximately 60–90 minutes.
- Employment type: Contractor, Part-time.
- Time requirement: Less than 20 hours/week; project requires ~60–90 minutes total.
- Pay: Paid per hour at USD $6.65.
What You'll Do
Participate in short AI chat sessions about your reading habits and U.S.-centric books, then provide evaluation and written feedback. Tasks combine rating and short text responses to AI-generated suggestions.
- Complete three AI-driven conversations, each ~20–30 minutes.
- Discuss favorite authors, genres, memorable U.S. books, and reading preferences.
- Provide ratings and written feedback on AI-generated reading recommendations (label types: evaluation/rating and text generation).
- Work using supplied labeling software (listed as OTHER).
Requirements
To qualify you must be comfortable speaking and writing in English, have a strong understanding of U.S. culture and literature, and be willing to share thoughtful feedback on recommendations. This project is open worldwide but requires U.S.-centric cultural familiarity.
- Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written).
- Demonstrable interest in reading and familiarity with U.S. books or authors.
- Availability to complete three 20–30 minute chat sessions within the project timeframe.
- Entry-level experience acceptable; no formal education required.
Screening Interview & Example Questions
You’ll take part in a short screening interview that assesses English fluency, depth of interest in reading, familiarity with U.S. culture and literature, and availability for the three sessions. Below is the interviewer flow and sample prompts used to evaluate applicants.
- Greeting & project overview: Explain the role and confirm the three sessions (each 20–30 minutes) totaling 60–90 minutes.
- Open-ended reading discussion: "Could you start by telling me about your general interest in reading—your favorite genres, authors, or recent books?"
- U.S. literature probe: "Could you share some U.S. authors or specific U.S.-based novels you’ve really enjoyed? What drew you to those stories or writers in particular?"
- Digging deeper: "You mentioned [author/work]. What aspects or themes in their writing resonate with you the most?" and "Have you explored other U.S. authors with similar styles or themes?"
- Feedback assessment: "In this project, we’ll ask you to provide feedback on AI-generated reading lists. How do you generally approach giving feedback about recommendations or reviews?"
- Availability check: "Are you available to participate in three 20–30 minute sessions over the next few days?"
- Wrap-up: Thank the applicant, explain next steps, and invite final questions.
